Banjo Workshop SATURDAY, March 31, 2007, 10am-4pm Fiddle Workshop SUNDAY, April 1, 2007, 10am-4pm Joe Herrmann, a talented multi-instrumentalist, has played music for over 40 years. In 1975, he and his wife, Sam, founded Critton Hollow String Band and they have played festivals, concert halls and dance camps throughout the U.S. and Canada and have made five Critton Hollow recordings. Joe performed with The Fiddle Puppet Dancers for 16 years and, with them, toured the U.S., the U.K., Canada, and Japan. He also fiddles for the lively traditional dance band, The Percolators, who last year, released "Alive in Prague," recorded on tour in Czechoslovakia. Joe has taught old-time fiddle and banjo at numerous music camps throughout the US, including Augusta, Pinewoods and the Upper Potomac Fiddle Retreat. He teaches private lessons at his home in West Virginia and has a reputation among his students for being a patient teacher who is able to focus on an individual's needs.
Fiddle: Putting basic elements together ~ i.e. tone, intonation and rhythm. Bowing. Tunes. Banjo: Clawhammer style. Backing up the fiddler. Chord playing. Tunings. A look at three finger picking. Tunes. Level: Joe will adapt the class to those who attend, leaving no one behind and at the same leaving no one un-challenged. Joe teaches by ear so don’t forget your recorders.
