September 15 & 16, 2006
Jill, Peter and Leslie, pulled
out the FOB
Festival Survival List,
loaded up the vanjo and headed down Rt. I-81 to
Glen Maury Park
in Buena
Vista, Virginia, for a weekend of old time jamming. As soon as
we pulled up to the park, we ran into Lucy with her cute, blue festival
caravan and, right around the bend, we found JC & Pat S helping Carol put
up her canopy. Later we found Howard and then Brooke. Rockbridge is a
wonderful, low key festival, that lives up to it's self-description of
" ...not your
usual festival. There's no contest and no fancy line-up of big-name acts.
No crowds. But if you love
dancing and old-time music in a mellow setting, it's the one for you..."
And, just
as last year, our weekend was packed with friends, good food, lazy times
and music. During the day, the weather was gorgeous but we forgot
that due to a heavy dew, it can be cold and damp during late night
jamming. Next year we'll remember our warmer clothes and
wet-weather foot-gear. The food available at Rockbridge is quite
good, due to Mountain Mama Caterer, who prepares, healthy delicious,
mostly veggie meals at reasonable prices. We had a couple of
home-cooked meals, too. Peter made his good cheese omelets for
Saturday breakfast and Howard invited us over for a scrumptious veggie
chili, perfect for a chilly night. (Click here
